purpose and basic function

experience Let us first state, this software is a valuable tool for experienced antenna designers, not an replacement for antenna knowledge.

AnTune do also assume that you know how to calibrate a Vector Network Analyzer such that its reading is usable for when designing a impedance matching network and that it is possible to reserve a space on PCB antenna area for a matching network.

If neither of above is met, AnTune software will not improve your antenna design.
Even for very experienced antenna designers, we recommend that you read some of the articles on this site about how to set up a measurement object correctly, before starting to use the software.

AnTune's basic function is to give antenna matching network a totally new role. Matching network is often a misused function for small embedded antennas.
Not due lack of knowledge, it is that lack of correct  tools not have existed before.

AnTune software is unique, as no other software can provide its kind of antenna design support. Instead of adding a matching network as a poor compensating factor in a final antenna design stage, the matching network will be an integrated antenna design function from the first antenna design step, which dramatically reduces time of development and improves the final design performance. This workflow allows antenna designs that previously was unattainable by designers of embedded antennas.
Assume that you could design an antenna that do not need to be even close to 50 Ohm over whole of its bandwidth but final antenna will still have a low VSWR.
It gives you a totally new freedom in designing the antenna and a lot of more possibilities to make a real effective antenna under otherwise restricted design circumstances.
Assume a software that in real time gives you information about how an impedance corrected antenna will behave without any need for calculations or simulations. It will show you what resulting matched curves will looks like with a real matching network added, before it is added.
.
This information will you get from the first step of the antenna design process without any complicated settings. You set required bandwidth and that's it.
Adding your own parameters has never been easier.
Saving and documenting the design status is done just by one mouse click directly in the software at main window.
If space reserved for a network is limited to a certain configuration, must AnTune be set up for this. Also this takes just a few mouse clicks, all done in main window, no hard to find menus.

The learning curve to get useable results from advanced RF software is often long and complicated.
In this software is it around 20 minutes, including software installation.
From testimonies, total antenna bench development time will in average be reduced with 50% or more.
Main idea behind  AnTune software was to make something that, while extremely user friendly and easy to handle, solved the problem how to take fully advantage of the combination matching network and antenna at the same time.

Previous existing impedance matching software assumed that matching was a part of simulation or added afterwards the antenna design was finalized.
Now will AnTune deliver an optimized network, recalculated many times each second during whole antenna design process , allowing you to find an else impossible to find combination of network and antenna.

That is what AnTune do. With satisfaction guarantee.

We promise that AnTune software correct used will make antenna design simpler, resulting in better final result, with less required development time. We promise that the software is so simple to operate that it will be a valuable tool within 20 minutes from first installation.

How it was before AnTune

Before was a common workflow for a embedded antenna design something like this:
Try to shape an antenna that fulfills certain specification regarding efficiency, VSWR and bandwidth as good as possible.
If VSWR or bandwidth is still not meet, try as a last solution to implement an impedance correcting network:
1. Save curve data on a diskette and carry it to your computer.
2. Import data in a simulation software.
3. Setup required parameters and let software try to find a optimized solution.
Due to that most parts of antenna impedance curve already is close to 50 Ohm, do that result in a network correction that is very limited, as it must avoid to affect already achieved reasonable correct impedance parts, and resulting improvements are almost none.
4. The weak network must now be soldered and measured. Often just to find that results was not enough.
It is a very time consuming process. Normally restricted to a few iterations per day.

The dream

The dream was a software that from first step of antenna design could implement an optimized network. By doing so would open up for new possibilities how to design antennas, were the antenna in itself had impedance curves that at first view seemed impossible to correct with a simple network, but in reality fits as a hand in a glove with a certain matching network.
An important problem to solve was that results from impedance calculations for finding optimized network was needed in real time if it should be of any use. As antenna designer it is not possible to wait seconds or minutes for reaction when an antenna shape is adjusted or consulting a software which takes minutes to feed with VNA results. Both optimized network type and component values were needed in real time.
The solution was to pre calculate a lot of possibilities. When your development antenna is adjusted in some way, an optimized network have already been calculated by AnTune and is now working on predicting next possible change of the antenna shape. Simple but it did take some time to find out all details.
As an example, when a change in antenna impedance is detected, an optimized result will be found by AnTune for a network consisting of 3 components within 0.5 ms at a 2 GHz computer. Closer real time is not possible.
Instead of a few impedance iterations per day, you now get same calculations done several hundred times each minute.
AnTune is a real time saver which opens up the usable antenna impedance range.
Even for us as software developers, it was almost hard to believe how smooth it went to design our first antenna, with aid of AnTune.
We started with a half done penta band antenna from our junkbox. We had given up that design several months ago, although that impedance correction network had been tried in all shapes that we could imagine.
Within minutes it was now a perfect matched cellphone antenna with high efficiency, and even worked good as Bluetooth antenna. Our most wide banded antenna so far.
Just for fun was more antennas then salvaged from junk box and almost everyone showed up as very useful antenna after minor adjustment in antenna shape and matching network. Average time we did put on each antenna and its matching network was about one hour. It was almost too simple but very fun to give new life to these old antennas.

Now it is your turn, try for yourself, it is absolutely free.
